Dave is…
Going to Widespread Panic at Irving
But I damn near got nailed in ConLaw trying for them. You see the pre-sale for convention goers opened today and veteran of the ticket wars that I am I started checking a few message boards to see if anyone felt generous enough to share the pre-sale password.
One guy did but when I went to Live Nation and tried to use there was some web problem and I got caught in some loop where every time I clicked the Purchase Pre-Sale button I was taken to the same page on a new tab. It wasn’t till the middle of ConLaw that I got an emailed link from another message board guy. He had posted that he could help out people who needed tix but he told me I was too late, that the link he’d been passing out didn’t work anymore. I clicked it anyway figuring what the heck and inexplicably it worked!
So there I was suddenly madly trying to fill out the billing and shipping info and input my credit card because you only have a certain amount of time to do that (usually 2-5 minutes) before the tickets get released back into the stream. And of course Gregg that dope picked this moment to offer his first proactive contribution to the class discussion this semester. The kid is sitting right next to me so the Prof is looking right at us as he talks and there I am completely ignoring the kid to my immediate left, hunched over my laptop my eyes glued to the screen. I could not have been more obviously surfing the net if I had a big blinking neon sign over my head.
But what could I do? I had lucked into ticket gold and I sure as shit couldn’t give that up to pretend to pay attention to a conversation that was all covered in an old outline I had anyway. Still I thank whatever benevolent power in the universe kept the Prof from justly targeting me for a lengthy cold call which is what I would have done if I’d been in her shoes.
But hell even that would have totally been worth it for the Panic ticket. Now all I got to do is get even luckier on Saturday with Phish
