Dave is…

Capable of time travel.

I talked to Max on my way to work this morning. Except while it was 9am on a gloomy Monday for me it was still Fathers Day for Max. I managed to place a call back in time. There must be some tear in the fabric of the space/time continuum. Think about the implications of that for a second. C’mon you’ve seen Back to the Future II where Marty wants the sports almanac so he can clean up with the bookies. Well now all I have to do is wait till the the Spain v US game later this week, and once it’s over phone it in to Max who can make the bet the day before the game is played and we can clean up. I should have my whole eight months of expenses covered by the end of the Confederations Cup. And I didn’t even need a goddamn flux capacitor. How has no one ever thought of this before?

Misc Notes:

• I’ve fallen in love. Hard. I grabbed a pretty random stack of illegally copied DVDs before I left on this trip, trying to focus on things I haven’t seen. Since its been slow around here I managed to bang through the whole season of Freaks and Geeks, the cult classic about high school in the 80s that only lasted a season but was produced by Judd Apatow and featured the debutes of James Franco, Seth Rogan, Jason Siegel. It was ok, not amazing, it struggled in the beginning to figure out its characters and give them depth. I think it could have been great if it had lasted more than 18 episodes. But really the only reason I am telling you any of this is because I fell in love with the lead character Lindsay Weir. No, I am not in love with the actress who plays her, I looked her up on IMDB and shes all weird looking now. But in this role she is gorgeous. She instantly has joined my all time television beauty top 5 but on top of that she is exactly the kind of girl that I would try for if I ever tried at all. Seriously, I could wax rhapsodic about this fictional character, right down to her awesome everpresent army jacket. In the episode where she discovers the Grateful Dead I was actually on the edge of my seat scared she would reject them and thus mar her perfection.

• I guess the only reason I went on about this to you people is that I went to the movies to get out of the house this evening and I ended up seeing Adventureland, the other options were The Hangover (I was too sober for it) or Terminator 4 (I was way to sober for it). It’s not a bad movie though without ever having much depth or generating much emotion. But it did feature the actor who played Bill Haverchuck in Freaks and Geeks, essentially playing that character a few years down the road.

• I got to the movie early and so thought I’d just walk around the mall and window shop (even though I was in the damn thing yesterday) but everything in the mall other than the cinema and the food court was closed by 7pm. What the fuck? Even in the stores in these revered bastions of personal safety close early? How can anyone shop? If you can go to the mall when the stores are open you can’t possibly have a job that will provide you the money necessary to buy anything.

I am so confused.
