Dave and Dad are…

Out in the bush.

Alright, let’s establish this right now: getting up at 5am is GOD-AWFUL.

Though I guess I don’t know that personally though cause the safari staff forgot about our hut and we didn’t get the original wake-up call. So not only did we have to get up early (though twenty minutes later than everyone else) we had to move and move fast immediately. That was terrible.

The eager eyes of the hunter

Staggered, is the word that best describes how I progressed to the safari truck. The safari truck incidentally is amazing it’s this huge open aired truck with four rows of stadium style seating in the back. It rules, though it’s a little cramped.

After that initial hitch the inaugural safari went pretty well. We logged shitloads of birds, buffalo, impalas, giraffes, lions, and in the big excitement of the day, rhinos.

Rhinos rule.

When that was over it was breakfast back at the camp and then nothing to do but lay exclusive claim to the hammock and read/sleep the day away.

Screw the animals, and the early wake up calls, shoot screw the booze, THIS is the way to live.

Unfortunately, at some point they made us get up and get back in the safari truck for more animal watching. The evening trip was a little less eventful, fewer animals but they stop for a quick booze in the bush during the evening run.

Gratuitous ass shot

Then back to the camp again for a dinner washed down with bottomless drinks and then an early evening under the mosquito net.
